Parish Information
Although St. Anthony, Upland, was organized in 1974, it wasn’t until 1995 that Pastor Fr. Ned O’Donnell and the parishioners reached a consensus to build a new church and renovate the Parish center to better accommodate the need for classrooms, a meeting hall and a permanent worship space.
A capital fund drive was launched in June 1995, and a generous response enabled plans to proceed. Architect Jim DiCamillo facilitated a number of open meetings to gather thoughts and ideas on what the new building project should provide for the parish community. After groundbreaking by Bishop Gerald Barnes on September 22, 1996, construction began.
The solemn dedication of St. Anthony Church began with parishioners gathered in the new courtyard, Fr. Ned beaming and Bishop Gerald Barnes knocking at the new doors. With the choir leading a majestic “All Creatures of Our God and King,” all entered to celebrate the culmination of many prayers, much work, many donations and a parish dream. Music Director, Edward Zeliff’s original, musical piece said it all, “Here in this place, we dedicate all our lives to you.”
