Parish Information

Holy Spirit Catholic Community, Hemet, was established by the diocese of San Bernardino on May 19, 1991, to alleviate the overcrowding brought to Our Lady of the Valley Church by the growing number of the faithful in the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley.

Originally celebrating weekend liturgies at the dance hall at Buckboard Ranch, in July 1992, Holy Spirit Community moved its offices to its present location, and its liturgies to Valle Vista School. Beginning in 1991 with 246 families, the parish has grown to 600 families, keeping pace with changing area demographics.

On July 1, 2001, the parish community processed from Valle Vista School to the present 18-acre property where the doors of a new multipurpose building were blessed. Bishop Dennis O’Neil dedicated the beautiful building on September 5, 2001, as priests, ministers and people entered God’s presence singing for joy!

Holy Spirit Community is a welcoming parish that rejoices in the accusation made of Jesus: “He welcomes sinners and eats with them.” Nourished by Word and Sacrament, parishioners serve the homeless several times a month.

The Community is committed to a conscious and faithful manifestation in their lives of the fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, fidelity, gentleness and self control (Gal. 5:22).
