Parish Information

This new parish was formed July 1, 2006 from the merger of Christ the King, Our Lady of Fatima and St. Ann in the City of San Bernardino. Sister Maureen Chicoine, RSCJ, was the founding Pastoral Coordinator with Very Reverend Robert Miller as Priest Moderator. (In 2008 Rev Romeo Seleccion E.V. became the Priest Moderator.)

Since that time the parish has been consolidating activities in order to make better use of the parish facilities. The Religious formation programs (English, Spanish and Vietnamese) programs for youth and adult formation have been integrated into two sites. In February 2007 a sign was erected at the future site of Our Lady of Hope parish at Tippecanoe and Baseline and was blessed by Bishop Barnes in a trilingual ceremony. A procession from nearby Our Lady of Hope – Valencia Avenue marked the occasion. In June 2008 the parish site at Rialto Avenue (the former Christ the King) was closed with a special Mass presided over by Bishop Gerald R. Barnes. A procession from that site with the Blessed Sacrament moved all of the activities at that site to either the Valencia Avenue site (former Our Lady of Fatima) or the Del Rosa Avenue site (former St. Anne). Two additional Masses were added at the Valencia Avenue site to accommodate the extra people giving the parish a total of 11 Masses in three different languages (Spanish, English and Vietnamese) at its two sites. The Rialto site buildings were demolished that summer.

In order to reach out to the neighboring community in 2008 the parish began a basic adult education program with parenting classes in English and Spanish, GED in Spanish, primary and secondary certificate programs in Spanish, adult literacy, computer skills and sewing through formation of a Plaza Comunitaria in partnership with the Mexican consulate and Knox Family Foundation First Five program. By 2009 the Religious Formation program for children and youth had nearly 1400 students, about 300 adults each week and a large RCIA group in both English and Spanish and adult Confirmation.
